About The Role
Anglicare is looking for a Clinical Specialist within our Foster Care - Clinical Care Team to provide trauma-informed support and consultancy to families and staff within Anglicare's foster care program. Join/be a part of a team that is focused on guiding carers to support children's attachment and recovery from trauma and consider the therapeutic needs of the whole family unit.
This is a Maximum Term (12months, with the possibility of extension) Part time (4-5days a week) role based at Telopea.
Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Maintain consistency and best practises by developing and supporting Anglicare's clinical practise and therapeutic interventions for children in care.
- Ensure all case management aspects of foster care placements are implemented.
- Develop and review behaviour support plans and safety plans for children taking psychotropic medication or engaging in behaviour that places themselves or others at risk.
- Support carers to build their skills and knowledge about attachment, trauma, mental health and therapeutic parenting through individualised carer coaching and support.
- Develop and facilitate therapeutic training and group work to well resource foster carers and their support network.
- Identify and advise on therapeutic interventions as appropriate to the needs of the child and family.
- Provide access to appropriate resources for children and families.
- Actively engage and support stakeholders by establishing positive relationships with the child and their therapeutic care team, and coordinating communication between members of this team.
- Ensure client information is reviewed regularly and kept up to date by completing reports and file documentation in accordance with OOHC and agency requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in social work, psychology, welfare/community services or related discipline
- Minimum two years experience working with children and families impacted by developmental trauma
- Strong understanding of evidence-based practice in the areas of developmental trauma, attachment, therapeutic parenting and mental health and ability to incorporate this knowledge into practice.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in clinical practice and assessment.
- Unrestricted NSW driver's licence.
- Understanding of OOHC practice and relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated skills in assessment, counselling and casework.
- Knowledge of child protection and family support processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
