About the role
The Design and Commissioning Manager bridges the gap between design and delivery. This role ensures new properties meet resident and operational needs, incorporating community and care spaces. It also drives the commissioning process, facilitating smooth project handovers to operational teams. The role sits within the Property Asset Team of Seniors Communities and will be a key advocate and influencer for our teams and residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Property Development Liaison & Design Leadership: Collaborate with property development and village operations teams to integrate operational needs into designs, ensuring they meet residents' evolving needs and align with the 'For Life' model.
- Design Oversight & Approval: Oversee the design process, ensuring inclusion of key operational elements and quality standards. Approve design proposals, blueprints, and drawings.
- Project Coordination & Management: Manage the project lifecycle from design to commissioning, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and high-quality standards. Resolve issues and keep projects on track.
- Commissioning & Handover Management: Ensure all systems (HVAC, electrical, fire, plumbing, etc.) are tested, validated, and operational before handover.
- Innovation in Design for Aging Population: Create innovative property designs for villas, apartments, and public spaces that meet aging residents' needs while maintaining functionality and comfort.
- Variation Management: Review, approve, and document all design or plan changes.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure compliance with design, construction, and regulatory standards. Implement quality assurance processes to meet project specifications.
- WHS & Workplace Culture: Promote safety within the portfolio according to the Work Health and Safety and Injury Management System (WHSIMS) requirements.
Key Skills
- Strong project management and planning capabilities
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- Proficient in managing multiple projects and delivering them on time and within budget
- In-depth knowledge of design processes and commissioning best practices
- Understanding of quality assurance, compliance, and health & safety regulations
- Strong problem-solving and relationship-building abilities
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in property development, architecture, engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in property design and commissioning roles
- Proven track record in delivering successful property development projects
- Experience in managing relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders
- Strong project management skills with expertise in the project lifecycle from design to handover
