The Finance Analyst will provide commercial insights and financial analysis for the Community and Mission Strategic Business Unit through business partnering with key stakeholders. This role will play a key part in the financial planning and analysis for the division in support to management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides support to the leadership team through assisting to prepare financial analysis for both forward-looking (i.e. budgets and forecasts) and month-end close purposes
- Manages the rolling forecast model for the Senior Business Units, partnering with stakeholders to ensure the variations in outputs and changes to assumptions are adequately explained and justified.
- Partners with colleagues, practice staff and support centre for the Senior Business Units. This role will focus on key programs such as Fundraising, Food and Financial Assistance, Retail, Chaplaincy, other Mission related services.
- Articulates financial terminology and jargon to practice staff and demonstrates a comprehensive understanding over a range of applicable areas of commercial operations.
- Ensures all specific funding reporting, acquittals, and audits are managed and completed as required, including management of auditors, preparation of specific financial reports and interpretation of expense classifications for submission, collection of non-financial data, summary memos and coordination of Executive sign-off.
- Ensures funding is accurately accounted for, including invoicing for income where required, tracking of receipts, allocation to correct programs, and tracking of spending and rollovers for acquittal purposes and discussion with practice staff.
Essential Criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in commerce, business, accounting or similar
- CA or CPA qualified (and will consider working towards)
- Minimum 2-3 years in accounting or finance related roles
- Strong handle on excel, PowerPoint, word and software applications
- Strong business partnership skills, communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and commercial acumen
- Knowledge of Accounting Standards, legal and regulatory compliance requirements
- Ability to learn quickly, work independently and as part of a team
