Barwon Health is one of the largest and most comprehensive regional health services in Australia, providing care at all stages of life and circumstance. The Aboriginal Health Team located within University Hospital support and advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander inpatients and their family.
The People & Culture Directorate is a large team that supports and delivers a range of services to the organisation.
To assist, support & advocate for Aboriginal people to access culturally appropriate mental health, drugs and alcohol services.
Assist Barwon Health Mental Health Drugs and Alcohol Services (MHDAS) staff in provision of culturally appropriate services for Aboriginal people; and enhance the understanding and capacity of staff on Aboriginal cultural issues in relation to Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB).
To meet the aims and objectives outlined in the Barwon Health Cultural Safety Plan.
