About Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services (MHDAS)  

Barwon Health's Mental Health Drugs and Alcohol Services (MHDAS) provides integrated and recovery orientated mental health and drug and alcohol assessment, treatment, harm reduction and community and family support to people of all ages within the Barwon Region currently experiencing, or at risk of experiencing mental health and/or drug and alcohol issues.

About the facility 

Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.

About the role

As the successful applicant, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team. You have professional experience in community engagement and youth advocacy and have a specific interest in youth health. You will be responsible for the promotion of the headspace Colac services and helping young people receive early access to health and other services. Other duties of this role include:

  • Mentor and support the headspace Colac Youth Reference Group
  • Promote headspace Colac via traditional and social media
  • Facilitate youth and family participation
  • Organise and deliver health promotion activities and community events to engage identified target populations.
  • Work collaboratively with all staff located at the headspace Colac to help ensure the centre delivers youth-focussed services to young people
