Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Research Officer 0.4 FTE to support our team in delivering high-quality research across these initiatives. The successful candidate will assist in the collection, management, and analysis of quantitative data while ensuring methodological rigor and alignment with research objectives. They will work closely with the Research Director to develop and maintain data systems, contribute to research design, and assist with reporting and publication efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the establishment and management of a longitudinal dataset tracking individuals seeking therapy for trauma.
  • Support the design and implementation of the Empowered Self-Defence trial project, ensuring data integrity and compliance with ethical standards.
  • Contribute to research activities within the Therapeutic Horticulture project, including data collection, analysis, and synthesis.
  • Develop and maintain databases, ensuring data accuracy, security, and usability.
  • Conduct quantitative data analysis, applying appropriate statistical techniques to evaluate program outcomes.
  • Assist in preparing research reports, presentations, and publications for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and data governance requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians, therapists, and external research partners.
  • Provide research support for grant applications and funding proposals as required.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Undergrad with Honours in psychology, social sciences, public health, statistics, or a related field with a strong quantitative focus.
  • Experience in quantitative research methodologies, data analysis, and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, or Stata)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large datasets and conduct longitudinal analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in drafting research reports and academic papers.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a research team.

Desirable

  • Experience in clinical or social research, particularly in trauma, mental health, or intervention-based studies.
  • Familiarity with mixed-methods research and qualitative data integration.
  • Knowledge of ethical considerations in health and social research.
  • Experience with grant writing or securing research funding.
