The Senior Manager Advocacy and Policy plays a leadership role in helping BirdLife Australia achieve its strategic goal of improving conservation outcomes for Australian birds.
This role is responsible for developing and leading the execution of BirdLife Australia’s policy and advocacy strategy in support of the Bird Conservation Strategy. The role works closely with the Executive Director, Participation and Engagement to ensure an integrated approach to campaigning across the Department and wider organisation.
The role is responsible for facilitating the delivery of a Policy and Advocacy Strategy through effective campaigning, advocacy and policy development which supports our Bird Conservation Strategy and is in line with organisational goals.
Reporting to the Executive Director Participation and Engagement, this position leads a team that works across the organisation to deliver campaigns and policy objectives in partnership with our branches and special interest groups, branches, community campaigners as well as private sector and government stakeholders.
You will work in partnership with BirdLife Australia's executive leadership, senior managers and other key staff to build power and campaign for the improved the status of native birds through:
Work with Senior Advisor Government Liaison, Conservation and Science and Participation and Engagement leaders to identify priorities for policy development, Government funding for programs and mobilization of Branches, SIGs, members and supporters;
Work with key staff to ensure that policy and advocacy strategies and campaigns can be readily integrated across the department and organisation, and are reflective of organisational annual plans and strategic priorities.
This is a full time (1.0FTE) permanent role, located in our Head Office in Melbourne.
