Food Services Chef / Manager - Brighton

Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary

Bonorong Food Services Chef / Manager

We're looking for a full-time (38-hours per week) Food Services Chef/Manager for our onsite cosy café “The Burrow”!

About the role

As the Food Services Chef/Manager, you'll be working in and running “The Burrow” - our 100% plant-based, cosy cafe on-site at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. Your view will be overlooking our Sanctuary, serving our amazing customers, staff and volunteers.

The Burrow cafe will be run by yourself and another staff member daily and while the core role will be the same each day (serving awesome food to equally fabulous customers), you'll also be in charge of designing, preparing and cooking delicious plant-based food, coming up with tasty menu items that rotate weekly, ordering supplies, rotating stock appropriately, coordinating functions & catered events, managing the cash float and more!

The Burrow café has a commercial kitchen within, which is where all the cooking magic happens! We are looking for someone to make this position their own and wow us and our guests with delicious plant-based food. Expect things to be fast paced and constantly evolving as we grow.

We are based in Brighton - around 30 minutes north of Hobart CBD. It is essential that you have your own reliable transport to get you to and from work.

You

  • Minimum 2 years of cooking experience and either running a cafe, food van or similar type of food preparation environment.
  • Familiar with food safety standards + requirement to undergo Tasmanian Food Safety Supervisor training.
  • Know how to make great coffee (and can teach people how to make great coffee!).
  • Love working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Are passionate about plant-based food (as we only serve plant-based options!)
  • Available to work a Sunday-Thursday roster with shift times falling between 8am-4pm, exact rostered hours to be confirmed with the right candidate.
  • Super organised: you'll be cooking and serving, and you also need to keep on top of all the ordering, receiving and rotating of stock.
  • Enjoy working in a small team environment.
  • Can communicate well to other team members who will run The Burrow on your days off.

Us

  • Social enterprise with a focus on animal welfare and the environment.
  • Growing business with awesome customers.
  • Love providing amazing, educational experiences.
  • Comfy uniforms.
  • Great work environment (if we do say so ourselves).
