Blackall Range Independent School

about us

B.R.I.S. is a not-for-profit, registered charity committed to creating a community of active learners. Our mission is to empower students and families through an inclusive learning environment that celebrates diversity and supports students who may not have thrived in mainstream education settings. As a rural-based school, we provide an alternative setting for students who have struggled to fit into conventional schooling. We support students with a range of abilities, including a strong neurodiverse population, ensuring that every learner has the opportunity to thrive educationally, emotionally, and socially.

We believe that all students are leaders, and that responsible leadership involves taking action to improve the world we live in. Sustainability is not just a concept at B.R.I.S.; it is woven into our daily practices, including our commitment to waste reduction, energy efficiency, and maintaining a natural learning environment that fosters an appreciation for the land. Our students actively participate in sustainability initiatives, including permaculture gardening, conservation projects, and environmental science programs that encourage responsible stewardship of our planet.

About the role

Join the Board at B.R.I.S.! Founded in 1975, Blackall Range Independent School (B.R.I.S.) is a non-denominational, co-educational, fully accredited school that offers education from Prep to Year 12. Situated in the serene hills of Kureelpa in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, our educational model is enhanced by our rural setting.

At B.R.I.S., we strive to meet the social, emotional, and educational needs of our students, creating a community of learners that includes students, teaching staff, and parents.

Expressions of Interest to join the Board of B.R.I.S. are now open. As a Board member you will play a crucial role in contributing to the governance, strategic leadership and financial management of the School.

You will work collaboratively with the other Board members and actively support the vision, mission and ethos of B.R.I.S.

We welcome expressions of interest from individuals with expertise in HR, business, finance, law or marketing, although all relevant skills are valuable. The board encourages those with board experience to submit an expression of interest.
