Ballarat Regional Multicultural Council Inc. (BRMC) is the peak multicultural agency in the Central Highlands Grampians Region. Our mission is to actively promote and develop goodwill, understanding and harmony within our culturally diverse community. We work in partnership with our multicultural members, key government and community stakeholders throughout the region to achieve this.
We acknowledge that family violence can affect individuals across all cultures. Migrant women, particularly those from non-English speaking backgrounds, often face social isolation and systemic inequities. therefor hindering their access to culturally relevant and appropriate services.
With support from Family Safety Victoria’s FV-MaTSS program, and in collaboration with WRISC, Berry Street, CHIFVC, Cafs and CASA, BRMC aims to improve service access and effectiveness for victim-survivors, and ensure that multicultural communities receive the education, information, and support they need to navigate these challenges.
As BRMC’s Family & Sexual Violence Intake Specialist, you will directly contribute to improving the lives of multicultural women. Reporting to the FV & SV Community Engagement Manager, you will provide specialised person-centred intake and advocacy support, education and advice to multicultural women seeking support due to family and/or sexual violence.
You will focus on crisis intervention to ensure women in crisis receive timely and appropriate service. This position provides the critical conduit to assessing, triaging, and actioning referrals to local service providers.
A candidate with the following skills and background will be highly valued:
Our ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to work both independently and within a team. You should demonstrate initiative, cultural sensitivity, and a deep understanding of family violence issues. You will be able to engage with a range of victim-survivors from a diverse range of multicultural backgrounds, as well as external stakeholders.
If you are a motivated individual with the skills and experience outlined above, we would love to hear from you. Join us in continuing our support for the multicultural communities in the Ballarat and Grampians region.
Please note: Applications will be assessed as they are received and BRMC reserves the right to close the application period early if a suitable candidate is found.
BRMC offers flexible working arrangements to support work-life balance.
