At Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL), we are seeking a passionate Development Coach to join our dedicated Youth and Adult Transitions Team.

  • Location: Broadmeadows (with regular travel around metro Melbourne) 
  • Job Type: Permanent full-time working 38 hours per week
  • Salary: $85,264.31 - $89,124.91 annum, based on skills and experience plus 11.5% superannuation. and $13,000 vehicle allowance

About the role

Working under guidance of the Demonstration Manager – this position provides coaching and support to participants for the entirety of their journey through the Given the Chance Program, from recruitment, selection and work preparation to employment commencement and transition to ongoing employment.

  • Conduct recruitment, selection, induction, and assess candidates’ preparedness for employment.
  • Lead recruitment and marketing activities to match participants with employers.
  • Provide post placement support to participants and employers for sustainable employment outcomes.
  • Perform participant performance reviews and coaching to support work plans and milestones.
  • Use an Advantaged Thinking approach to support participants in reaching goals.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who has the following key skills and experiences:

  • A strong track record of successfully supporting jobseekers experiencing disadvantage into sustainable employment, by providing pre-employment skills building, coaching, social support and post placement support.
  • Experience working with stakeholders in the employment, training or social services to ensure coordinated support and effective collaboration.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build professionally supportive relationships with a broad range of jobseekers with diverse or complex backgrounds
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
