What can you expect?
The General Manager of Partnerships, Events and Fundraising will be responsible for generating and maximising fundraising revenue for Bus Stop Films from individual, institutional and corporate donors, enabling us to continue to change lives and minds through film by enacting human rights outcomes for people with disability through social connections, creativity and employment.
The General Manager of Partnerships, Events and Fundraising will take a leadership role in managing a small team and ensuring all fundraising targets are met and longer term sponsorship agreements are established. They will enact a fundraising strategy for the organisation, working to our strengths and community connections, through grants, giving, sponsorships and events. They will support relationships with key companies who support and/or sponsor our initiatives. Additionally, they will oversee our advocacy and fundraising events.
This role reports directly to the CEO and is a 4 day a week role with 2 direct reports.
- Salary is $100,000 + Super + Incentives
Strategic Planning
- Develop a fundraising strategy that enables BSF to each its fundraising targets
- Analyse data and develop improved fundraising outcomes
- Producing annual income and expenditure plans with precise targets
- Develop detailed costings for innovative fundraising activities with income, costs and predicted income
- Detailed reporting on the outcomes of initiatives
- Working with other teams to find case studies suitable for fundraising
- Make amendments to strategy based on analysis
- Use of initiative to manage and solve problems as they arise
Customer Focus / External Contact
- Support opportunities for our ambassador engagement
- Donor centric approach to fundraising
- Ensure high quality donor care programs and management of a CRM
- Manage quality of external agency relationships through supplier negotiations and oversight of account management around partnerships, sponsorships and services
- Develop and ensure high quality of external fundraising, marketing and communication pieces
- Producing successful fundraising events, tasks and strategies
- Coordinating annual Scholarship Fund list
- Work with the GM of Programs and marketing team to ensure effective communications around our scholarships program, including acknowledgment of donations
Leadership
- Lead and build a high performing team that can effectively meet fundraising targets
- Manage the team professional development, providing support and coaching where required
- Communicate fundraising strategy and fundraising outcomes to executive level
- Create processes to manage fundraising pipeline
- Present to the executive on direction
Financial Impact and reporting
- Annual fundraising plan budget preparation for fundraising team that aligns with budgeted revenue
- Producing detailed income and expenditure budgets for the team and related activities
- Manage grant reporting and acquittals
- Growth of fundraising income via the acquisition and retention of donors and the ability to maximise the value of Bus Stop’s supporters
- Increase number of regular giving donors year on year
- Increase net income from donors year on year
- Maximise LTV and ROI of donors
Relationship Building
- Close working relationship with the Bus Stop Films marketing and programs team
- Manage external agencies and partnerships e.g. ambassadors and corporate partners
- Work with key internal staff to identify a pipeline of projects to fund e.g. film projects, scholarships
Time Impact
- Regular Board reports focusing on performance against budget and other KPI’s
- Quarterly planning and review with the team and other key departments.
- Annual plans and strategies development
- Multiyear strategies and operational plans
- Weekly management meeting with other key organisational staff.
What are we looking for?
Bus Stop Films is seeking a kind, fun and creative fundraising and sponsorship development professional with an entrepreneurial approach and outstanding leadership skills.
As a senior role, you will need to be comfortable with dealing with donors and partners at all levels. The General Manager of Partnerships, Events and Fundraising will be a proactive creative thinker and a doer, willing to work flexibly to ensure successful fundraising activities are delivered and the team they lead is well supported and thriving.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Tertiary qualifications in Marketing and Communications
- At least 7 years as a successful fundraising/development professional leading the fundraising strategy for a successful not for profit or social enterprise.
- A comprehensive background of fundraising experience across a number of portfolios e.g. Grants, Philanthropy (Individual Giving; Major Donors; Trusts and Foundations;
- Bequests; Corporate; Community; Direct Marketing; Donor Retention) sponsorships, partnerships and impactful fundraising events.
- Experience in developing successful, multi-year fundraising strategies
- Proven track record in raising income from a broad fundraising portfolio and the ability to demonstrate revenue growth in previous positions
- Expertise in individual giving with a strong focus on regular giving
- In depth experience of direct marketing and partnerships in a fundraising role
- An entrepreneurial approach to increasing our donor and supporter base through acquisition
- Ability to channel and identify new prospects
- Demonstrated success as a manager and leader of multi-disciplinary teams with the ability to motivate, mentor and train staff members
- Understanding of fundraising legislation
- Expertise in developing compelling fundraising case statements
- Knowledge of CRM and digital tools for fundraising management e.g. online giving platforms, digital raffles and auctions etc.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build relationships at all levels of the organisation
- A self-starter with an ability to work to tight deadlines, who is both a strategist and a doer.
- Proven track record in business planning and budget management
- Integrity and credibility at all levels and particularly when representing the organisation to funders and suppliers
- Entrepreneurial approach to fundraising and event management
- A strategic thinker but willing to get involved in day to day fundraising and events
- Ability to analyse risk and take appropriate decisions
- Ability and willingness to travel as required
