What can you expect?
We’re looking for a dynamic and impactful General Manager of Marketing to join our growing team! You will be responsible for shaping and leading BSF’s marketing and brand strategy to drive audience engagement, student enrolments, industry partnerships, and overall brand impact.
This role requires a strategic thinker who can set high-level direction while being hands-on when needed. You will ensure BSF’s marketing aligns with the organisation’s values and mission, using storytelling to amplify our work across the film and disability sectors.
This role reports directly to the CEO with 2 direct reports.
Salary is $135,000 + Super + Salary Sacrifice
Strategic Marketing and Brand Leadership
- Develop and implement a 12-month marketing strategy aligned with organisational objectives and revenue targets for key products.
- Position BSF as a leading voice in inclusive filmmaking and accessible education.
- Establish KPIs and measurable outcomes for marketing performance, audience reach, and impact.
- Work closely with the CEO and leadership team on brand development and corporate communications.
- Identify growth opportunities, including new audiences, digital trends, and potential partnerships.
- Engage with relevant stakeholders to the screen, disability and arts industry to ensure maximum exposure and support from them.
- Keep abreast of industry and market trends and best practices.
- Provide monthly reports and analytics on the performance of all social channels and marketing budgets to the Executive team.
- Work closely with the General Manager of Fundraising, Sponsorship and Events to drive revenue and build out effective campaigns for events.
- Work with the CEO to develop the Annual Report and Impact reports for industry and community.
Content, Media and Stakeholder Engagement
- Oversee the development of multi-channel campaigns across digital, print, and media platforms.
- Lead the storytelling strategy, ensuring BSF’s impact is communicated authentically through content, social media, and PR.
- Ensure diverse, engaging, and accessible content across all marketing assets (videos, blogs, newsletters, reports, and social media).
- Work with external agencies and media buyers and contacts to amplify key campaigns.
- Work with Film Distribution Development Manager to develop marketing collateral for film projects including EPK’s and posters.
- Maintain a strong online presence, ensuring consistency across social media, the BSF website, and digital advertising.
- Oversee digital performance, including SEO, SEM, paid advertising, email marketing, and analytics.
- Develop innovative ways to engage with BSF’s students, alumni, supporters, and film industry partners.
- Work with external Publicist (Tracey Mair) to source and manage media and PR opportunities to increase brand visibility and industry engagement. Including collating information for media releases either for our own execution or via our Publicicist
- Work to elevate the CEO and COO as speakers and industry experts to events and panels that align with Bus Stop Films mission and values.
- Work with the leadership team to develop key messaging for advocacy and public speaking engagements.
- Oversee event marketing and sponsorship promotions, including film premieres and workshops.
- Liaising with key stakeholders to execute campaigns e.g. seeking support from screen agencies, guilds and advocacy orgs to share/promote our events and initiatives
- Paid media management - media spend eg FB ads, management of TVC via broadcast or cinema advertising
Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and support a high-performing marketing team and any interns brought on throughout the year.
- Foster a culture of creativity, inclusion, and professional growth within the team.
- Work collaboratively with the other department General Managers and external stakeholders to align marketing efforts.
- Provide regular reports to the CEO for their board reports, highlighting key achievements and opportunities.
- Complete Professional Development plans with each direct report.
Analytics and Reporting
- Analyse marketing ROI and engagement data to assess impact and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide quarterly reports to the CEO, highlighting strategic progress, challenges, and opportunities.
- Use analytics tools to track audience growth, website traffic, conversion rates, and social media performance.
- Ensure marketing spend aligns with budget forecasts and provides cost-effective outcomes for BSF.
- Conduct post-campaign evaluations to measure success and refine future strategies.
- Managing budget around media spend and marketing.
What are we looking for?
- 7+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or brand management.
- Strong leadership and team management experience, particularly in a not-for-profit or creative sector.
- Knowledge of brand positioning, stakeholder engagement, and community-driven marketing.
- Knowledge of the media sector, news cycle and key players in the landscape.
- Familiarity with accessibility best practices and accessibility in digital marketing.
- Ability to lead and coach a high functioning team
- Strong industry connections in media, film, and corporate partnerships.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment while balancing strategic and hands-on responsibilities.
- Able to develop and manage a budget and report on ROIs and meet KPIs
- Ability to prioritise and complete work within prescribed timeframes.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in approach.
- Ability and willingness to travel as required
