ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Communications Coordinator is responsible for writing and producing three editions of the electronic In the Loop newsletter every fortnight, as part of a small public affairs team, as well as providing writing, editing and proofreading skills to other areas of the organisation.
The coordinator also works with the rest of the public affairs team to develop and deliver proactive communication campaigns through traditional and social media and react to issues of the day.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Communications Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in crafting compelling content, engaging our audience, and amplifying our message. Your work will inform and inspire bike riders while promoting our vision for more liveable communities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop fresh and engaging story ideas for In the Loop to appeal to a diverse cycling audience.
- Write, edit, and distribute In the Loop emails to over 100,000 subscribers.
- Create and manage social media content that resonates with bike riders and reinforces our key messages.
- Maintain and update public affairs pages on our website.
- Provide copywriting and editing support across the organisation.
- Identify and pitch newsworthy stories to local and national media.
- Respond to media enquiries and assist with media engagement.
- Support the delivery of events and organisational activities as required.
ABOUT YOU
- Tertiary qualifications in journalism, media, or communications.
- Experience as a copywriter, media liaison, communications officer, or journalist.
- Strong understanding of cycling culture and the benefits of bike riding.
- Excellent ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A team player with resilience, adaptability, and strong problem-solving skills.
- A valid Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain one).
