An exciting opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary team at Brisbane Youth Service’s Fortitude Valley clinic!
Brisbane Youth Service are seeking expressions of interest for a part-time (one day/fortnight) Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our unique and expanding youth specific medical clinic located at the Fortitude Valley Hub.
The BYS medical clinic provides a youth-focused primary care medical service for vulnerable young people (aged 12-25 years), who often have complex health and social needs, including both diagnosed and unaddressed mental health issues, leading to difficulties navigating health care.
You will have wrap-around support from a dedicated team as you help young people, and their children, address a cross-section of clinical disorders including trauma, developmental disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, substance use disorder, anxiety and depression.

OUR GOALS
- Psychiatric advice and support for BYS GP’s regarding medication and treatment for our complex clients to assist with safer provision of care
- Conduct assessment and diagnosis for ASD, ADHD, SLD and intellectual disability in partnership with BYS’ multi-disciplinary clinic team
- An integrated model of care, delivering multi-disciplinary treatment and support to highly complex, disadvantaged and vulnerable young people within BYS’ safe and youth friendly environment.

SELECTION CRITIREA
Qualifications and Registration:
- Demonstrated completion of a medical degree and specialisation in Psychiatry.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or equivalent.
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry:
- Proven experience in assessing, diagnosing, and treating mental health disorders in children and adolescents.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices and interventions for young people, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), family therapy, and medication management.
- Experience managing complex mental health cases and providing crisis intervention.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, including GPs, allied health professionals, and external stakeholders.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in a General Practice or Community Setting:
- Familiarity with working within a general practice or similar multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities of providing psychiatric services in primary care.
Flexibility and Adaptability
- Capacity to adapt to varying clinical demands and schedules, including the ability to manage a diverse caseload.
- Willingness to participate and contribute to practice development and clinical governance initiatives, including engaging in training and education.
