The Opportunity:  

  • Provide support to young people in emergency accommodation
  • Manager administration and data entry duties to support the IHR program
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support young people

Are you seeking a role with a values-driven for purpose organisation where you can support young people in our community? Are you passionate about facilitating access to emergency accommodation for young people? Work closely with the BYS team to support the Immediate Housing Response program and Brisbane Zero.

This full-time position of Intake Support Worker supports our mission by supporting day-to-day operational coordination, including administrative functions, data entry, and upkeep of relevant client recording systems, liaison with young people in emergency accommodation, and liaison and advocacy with external stakeholders and motel/accommodation providers.

You’ll be a great candidate for this role if you have:

  • A certificate III or above in Youth Work, Community Services or similar OR demonstrated experience in a related field
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated capacity to interact positively with staff and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to secure appropriate accommodation options for young people in homelessness crisis.
  • Demonstrated capacity to undertake administration and data entry duties via telephone, online communications, and face-to-face.
  • The ability to liaise with the internal teams, including Finance to support the IHR/F program, BNL and Brisbane Zero, and upkeep of financial processes
  • Demonstrated capacity to use Excell Spreadsheets and relevant data recording systems.
  • Sound organisation skills and effective time management with the ability to plan and prioritise work

Given the work that we do there will be a few non-negotiables. You’ll need to be able to have, or obtain prior to commencement:

  • Working with Children Suitability Card [Blue Card].
  • National Police Check clearance.
  • Evidence of vaccination, immunity, or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases - Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella [Chicken Pox]; Pertussis [Whooping Cough]; and COVID-19.
