Are you seeking a role with a values-driven for purpose organisation where you can support young people in our community? Are you an experienced practitioner passionate about the provision of care to people who identify within the LGBTIQ+ SB community? Collaborate with sector partners, community organisations, and referral services to build strong networks within the LGBTIQ+ SB Community
This full-time Safe Relationships Senior Practitioner position supports our mission by facilitating the delivery of the Safe Relationships Program that is aimed at reducing violence amongst young people, through healthy relationships and social groups for young people 18-25 years LGBTIQ+SB victim/survivors of Domestic, Family or Sexual violence.

You’ll be a great candidate for this role if you have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Social Sciences or comparable qualification OR substantial demonstrated experience in a related field
  • The ability to facilitate individual and group sessions with young people with an experience of violence according to the framework developed for SAGE+.
  • The ability to conduct intake and assessments for young people coming into the program, including dynamic assessment of risks as well as their family members and/or partners as appropriate.
  • Experience facilitating referrals and the ability to support SAGE+ participants to access housing, legal, physical and mental health support, education and employment, and engage with their community.
  • Strong connections with the LGBTIQ+SB Community and strong practice foundations for working therapeutically with young people (e.g. counselling skills, theories, and frameworks).
  • The ability to work collaboratively with the multi-agency steering committee and Community of Practice for the program and continue to build partnerships and professional networks within the LGBTIQ+SB/DFV sector and with other community and government services.

Given the work that we do there will be a few non-negotiables.

You’ll need to be able to have, or obtain prior to commencement:

  • Working with Children Suitability Card [Blue Card].
  • National Police Check clearance.
  • Evidence of vaccination, immunity, or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases - Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella [Chicken Pox]; Pertussis [Whooping Cough]; and COVID-19.
