This part-time Family Worker position supports our mission by providing support to pregnant and/or parenting young women and their infant/s who have faced unstable housing, domestic and family violence (DFV), and are at risk of intervention by the Department of Child Safety, Seniors, and Disability Services (DCSSDS).

This position requires you to participate in a 24 Hour, 7 days a week, rotating roster and undertake shifts from 3:30pm to 11:30pm and/or 11:00pm to 8:00am.

It is a genuine requirement of this position to be filled by a woman as permitted in sections 25, 104 and 105 of the Anti-Discrimination Act, 1991.

  • Social, Community, Home Care & Disabilities Services [SCHADS] Award 2010. CAW pay level 1 – 2 [$73,803.60 – $91,587.60, depending on organisational requirements, experience/qualifications + superannuation + excellent not-for-profit salary packaging benefits]

You’ll be a great candidate for this role if you have:

  • A tertiary qualification or working towards (studying) in Social Work, Psychology, or Social Sciences or similar experience
  • Demonstrated experience working holistically with vulnerable young parents and their children, focusing upon support plan goals and experience building trusting relationships with marginalised young people.
  • Ability to work with young parents in building their parenting skills, attachment and relationship with their children
  • Ability to facilitate individual and group activities providing positive engagement with young parents
  • Strong communication skills, including oral and written skills, writing report and case files, collaborating with community services, and the ability to liaise effectively with young parents and advocate on their behalf.
  • Strong planning, task management and organisational skills and the ability to work independently in a supported accommodation setting

Given the work that we do there will be a few non-negotiables. You’ll need to be able to have, or obtain prior to commencement:

  • Working with Children Suitability Card [Blue Card].
  • National Police Check clearance.
  • Evidence of vaccination, immunity, or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases - Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella [Chicken Pox]; Pertussis [Whooping Cough]; Hepatitis B and COVID-19.
