Are you passionate about supporting young people experiencing DFV in your community? Are you an experienced DFV practitioner looking to utilize your expertise in a new role? Lead and co-ordinate staff training and professional development to equip workers with the skills to respond effectively to young people affected by DFV.

This full-time Youth Domestic Family Violence Advocate position supports our mission by supporting young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness who are impacted by Domestic and Family Violence (DFV). This position works closely with the integrated service response to assess risks, develop safety plans, and deliver coordinated support for young people facing DFV.

You’ll be a great candidate for this role if you have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or comparable qualification OR substantial demonstrated experience in a related field  
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake thorough assessments of a young person’s situation and support needs, including risk assessments and safety planning
  • Manage, identify, mitigate, and monitor operational risks in service delivery and actively use risk management systems to ensure the safety of staff, young people, and the community for those facing DFV
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people impacted by DFV in individual and group-based settings
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities such as ability to mentor, support, and guide; provide debriefing [including incident debriefing] to colleagues
  • Strong organisational and planning skills and the demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritise and manage competing demands
  • Demonstrated capacity to collaborate across the service system and effectively network to provide a DFV response, including acting in accordance with relevant legislation

Given the work that we do there will be a few non-negotiables. You’ll need to be able to have, or obtain prior to commencement:

  • Working with Children Suitability Card [Blue Card].
  • National Police Check clearance.
  • Evidence of vaccination, immunity, or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases - Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella [Chicken Pox]; Pertussis [Whooping Cough]; and COVID-19.
