The Centre Against Domestic Abuse (CADA) is seeking a volunteer Treasurer for our Board of Governance to support the financial management of the organisation. The Treasurer will oversee the financial affairs of CADA and ensure its financial health, transparency and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.  

ABOUT US

The Centre Against Domestic Abuse (CADA) is a community organisation funded by the Queensland Government to respond to adults and children affected by domestic, family and sexual violence.

We provide counselling and crisis/court support, referrals, risk assessment and safety planning, and high risk integrated service responses, as well as trauma informed recovery focused support for women.

CADA is active in advocacy, community education and early intervention and, prevention strategies work towards a future free from domestic and family violence, in partnership with government and organisations working in the sector. We operate from offices at Caboolture, Redcliffe and Strathpine.

To provide domestic, family and sexual violence support in Moreton Bay through prevention, early intervention, crisis response and recovery to promote safety and healing.

THE TREASURER

The Treasurer is responsible for overseeing the financial affairs of the organisation, and keeping the Board informed about the finances. The Treasurer liaises with the CEO in the first instance in relation to financial matters. The Treasurer reports to the full Board and is responsible to the other members.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in financial management, accounting, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and accounting principles
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in NFP sector is highly desirable
  • A commitment to the mission and values of CADA

Our Board meets once every 6 weeks

Key responsibilities include:

  • Liaising with designated staff in preparing and monitoring annual budgets
  • Making sure financial records are current and accurate in conjunction with staff
  • Approving the payments in conjunction with at least one other bank account signatory
  • Liaising with designated staff in organising and preparing the necessary information for audit
  • Making sure financial returns are sent to relevant government departments/funding bodies, as required
  • Liaising with designated staff in organising the annual balance sheet, accounts and report for presentation to the members of the organisation at the AGM
  • In conjunction with CEO, reviewing insurances annually
  • Presenting regular financial reports at Board meetings
