This is a full-time permanent role (part time considered)

Salary range ($125,655.02 – $143,439.66) pro rata for part time

The Director, Policy and Campaigns leads an energised and effective Policy and Campaigns team to lead change to policy, laws and industry practice across a range of consumer issues, advocating for consumers across Victoria. Reporting to the CEO you'll be leading our Policy and Campaigns Team with responsibility for all aspects of strategy, planning and the implementation of campaigns and policy activities.

Specifically, the role will:

• Be accountable for all aspects of policy and campaign activity
• Identify systemic issues from outreach, casework and advice-lines
• Oversee media, communications, events and presentation activities
• Liaise with stakeholders and participate in engagement with government, industry, politicians and regulators
• Manage the production of media releases, campaign materials, reports, submissions, articles and factsheets
• Lead a highly effective team to develop and implement policies, campaign strategies and initiatives
• Contribute to the development of Consumer Action’s strategic direction
• Managing and applying for funding arrangements

The successful applicant will have:

• A demonstrated commitment to advancing the public interest and social justice
• Tertiary qualification in policy, legal or other relevant discipline
• Highly developed interpersonal skills with an ability to consult, collaborate, negotiate and influence.
• An experienced and passionate leader who can engage staff in the strategic vision, communicates effectively and can execute complex plans
• Substantial experience in a policy and campaign development and influencing role
• Demonstrated specialist writing, editing and communication skills
• High level of cultural competency and values diversity and inclusion to support a culturally safe workplace.  
• Expertise in complex stakeholder management and/or community engagement, including with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander organisations and communities.

The Director of Policy and Campaigns is an integral role to Consumer Action as a part of the Management Team and leading critical campaigns that span across the whole organisation. Their public facing presence in the media is critical to Consumer Actions success in advocating and campaigning for Victorians.
