Camp Kiah is a therapeutic camp, created with a therapeutic play theoretical underpinning. As such we use diagnostically targeted and trauma informed attachment theory and focus on building a secure base for the children/young people while they are in our care. It is then our hope to work systemically with all other agencies and adults involved in their care to transition these attachments onto those who will be providing the ongoing support. This is particularly relevant for our participants who have a dual diagnosis of disability and mental health concerns or are living in an environment where these are daily contributing factors.
