The Prevention Division aims to prevent cancer for all Victorians. This is done through community interventions, mass media, advocacy, training and providing policy advice based on the best available evidence. This involves action to affect individual behaviours and the broader physical and legislative environment to reduce cancer risk. We prioritise health inequalities, especially in relation to Aboriginal people, and in culturally diverse and socio-economically disadvantaged communities.

UNIT SUMMARY

Quit sits within the Prevention Division at Cancer Council Victoria and includes:

  • Quitline Service – counselling service for smoking and vaping cessation plus information and advice via messaging services in Victoria, South Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia.
  • National Cessation Platform (quit.org.au) - a digital platform which supports all Australians who smoke and/or vape to quit and stay quit.
  • Quit Victoria - focussed on equitably reducing tobacco related harm across Victoria through social marketing campaigns, policy and advocacy, research and evaluation, and health & community systems level initiatives to prevent uptake of smoking and /or vaping and provide increased cessation support to all Victorians.
  • National Best Practice Support Service for Nicotine and Smoking Cessation (Quit Centre) - provides health professionals with the latest clinical information, resources and training on smoking and vaping cessation.

About your opportunity

We are seeking a Project Manager to join the Quit Unit in the Prevention Division. Reporting to the Medical Lead – Quit your role is to:

  • Provide expertise to lead the development and implementation of the pilot project to provide NRT to Quitline clients who are nicotine dependent.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation including the protocol for NRT provision and procurement and distribution processes and contribute to ethics and governance submissions.
  • Ensure robust systems and processes are in place for Quitline client safety and to mitigate clinical risk in relation to the project.
  • Monitor and provide progress reports on implementation.
  • Lead the development and delivery of training to upskil Quitline counsellors in the provision of NRT.
  • Lead the development and delivery of a supervision model for Quitline counsellor client assessments for NRT provision and review.
  • Provide advice to the Quit Director and the Quitline Quality Group based on practice insights around smoking and vaping cessation care.

All about you

We are looking for someone with:

  • Demonstrated ability in developing and delivery training
  • Proven experience managing projects and administrative operations
  • Demonstrated success working within a complex health organisation to deliver health projects
  • Demonstrated problem solving and lateral thinking capability, ability to identify and resolve complex problems in a timely manner
  • Health qualifications, an in-depth knowledge of smoking and vaping cessation and clinical experience in smoking cessation, treatments and management approaches is desirable.
