About us

Canteen, Camp Quality and Red Kite (Alliance Partners) are working together to provide Cancer Hub – a digital hub to help families impacted by Cancer more easily access the practical and emotional support they need, when they need it.

While this role exists as part of Cancer Hub, it represents Canteen. Canteen is all about supporting young people and their families affected by cancer.

Founded by young cancer patients, we offer programs and resources that truly make a difference for 12-25 year-olds facing their own diagnosis, supporting a loved one, or grieving. Together, we believe our team can create real change!

We are now seeking a Canteen Cancer Navigator in Western Australia to join our Cancer Hub team where you will be responsible for helping families, with children and young people aged 0 to 25, access the supports they need to reduce some of the burden bought about by a Cancer diagnosis.

Core parts of this role will be linking clients to service providers, advocating for our clients, and fostering connections between Camp Quality, Canteen, Red Kite and other stakeholders.

About our benefits

We connect, we empower, we challenge, and we are real. These values ground the way we work at Canteen, and underpin a culture that brings people together in an inspiring and positive way.

  • Base Salary + Superannuation + Not-For-Profit Salary Packaging (up to $18,550 of your salary tax-free).
  • 5 Weeks Annual Leave (FTE) + 17.5% leave loading + pay during our annual office closure week.
  • Early access to long service leave
  • Learning & Development opportunities.

About our role

  • Deliver Cancer Navigation: Provide high quality, evidence-based cancer navigation support to young people and families impacted by Cancer.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Identify and contribute to key stakeholder relationships, working collaboratively with all services under Cancer Hub, Alliance Partners and other stakeholders to ensure young people and families receive access to the support that best meets their needs.
  • Team Collaboration and Program Development: Collaborate and consult with peers across Cancer Hub, Canteen, and Alliance; sharing practice through teaching and learning opportunities; contributing to team projects and overall development of the service.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or Nursing (Allied Health).
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering case management and/or clinical intervention within child, youth or health focused settings.
  • Experience creating and maintaining relationships with sector partners such as hospitals, health and community services, education and not-for-profit professionals.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments and developing safety plans.
  • Knowledge of child protection legislation and mandatory reporting.
  • Experience with working in a multi-disciplinary team, liaising with staff from different departments (internal and external) and working within a remote team.
  • Demonstrated skills in decision making, problem solving, negotiation and crisis management.
  • A proactive and positive attitude with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Warm, compassionate, and friendly approach to supporting our young people.

Due to the nature of Canteen and Cancer Hub's work, you will be required to (very) occasionally work weekends and evenings. Advance notice will be given when this is the case, and Canteen does have a Time off in Lieu policy for taking leave as agreed with the supervising manager.
