Capricorn Citizen Advocacy (based in Rockhampton) seeks a mature minded, competent person who has a strong understanding of social devaluation and is willing to learn how to use the Citizen Advocacy framework to respond to the person's situation.

Citizen Advocacy is based on the principles and values of Social Role Valorisation, so an in depth knowledge of this theoretical framework will be beneficial.

The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and be well connected within the Rockhampton and Capricorn Coast communities as they will be responsible for the coordination of a Citizen Advocacy program in these LGAs.

The position entails establishing supportive relationships between members of the community (Citizen Advocates) and people with disabilities (Protégés) who are vulnerable, and who have unmet needs.

SCHC&DSI Award (2010) Level 5 applies.

Position is 18 months Fixed Term with possibility of extension or permanency.
