Food Security Project Officer

Centre for Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Detainees

Got a passion for food security and social justice? The Centre for Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Detainees (CARAD) is looking for a Food Security Project Officer to manage and grow our food relief program, the CARAD Pantry.

CARAD provides practical and basic needs to people seeking asylum, refugees and detainees in Western Australia. Often referred to as the service provider of last resort, CARAD fills the gap where other services cannot support clients. Providing responsive and dynamic support, CARAD seeks to empower people to advocate for their rights, connect with community and live with dignity.

In this role, you will be responsible for enhancing and expanding the CARAD Pantry. You’ll review current practices, gather feedback from key stakeholders, and develop strategies to increase the capacity and scope of services to meet the growing needs of our clients.

Key requirements include:

  • Demonstrated experience in project management, particularly in a community or not for profit setting.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Experience in engaging a range of stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess data and make evidence-based recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in community development, social work, public health, or a related field.
  • Experience in food security or foodbank management.
  • Experience in developing and fostering partnerships
  • Experience working with CaLD communities.

Check out the position description attached below for more info.

At CARAD, we provide vital support services to asylum seekers and refugees, including food security, advocacy, and community programs. Join our compassionate team and help ensure everyone has access to healthy, nutritious food.

This role is a Level 5 position under the SCHADS Award, with salary packaging available.
