About the Role

DT Global envisage an upcoming opportunity and is seeking Expressions of Interest for the following role:

Role: Climate Change Lead

Location: Suva or elsewhere in the Pacific/Australia, with availability to travel across the Pacific and Timor-Leste as required

Duration: 24 months, with possibility for extension.

The Climate Change Lead will drive sector and country specific climate analyses, strategies and action plans and ensure climate change is integrated across the Program.

We are seeking expressions of interest from those with a strong track record in climate change in the international development sector, who are client-focused, enjoy solving complex challenges, passionate about working collaboratively to deliver ideas and advice that can help our Pacific Island and Timor-Leste Country partners, and being part of a dynamic team. About the Position

Duties and essential requirements for the role will include:

  • Oversight of the development and implementation of the Program climate change strategy and action plan.
  • Develop and implement climate change activities that contribute to the objectives and outcomes of the climate change strategy.
  • Ensure climate change activities are on track and on-budget.
  • Lead on cultivating meaningful relationships with stakeholders and partners across the Pacific region and Timor-Leste.
  • Provide support to the Team Leader and Leadership Team to develop and maintain high-quality deliverables that demonstrate the Programs’ climate change focus, including Annual Work Plans, Quarterly Updates and other deliverables as required by the donor.
  • Work closely with the MEL team to ensure that climate change is integrated into the MEL framework and plan.
  • Other tasks and duties as required to ensure the smooth and effective delivery of the program.

About You

You are a team player with a high degree of flexibility, adaptability and resilience, with the ability to deliver high quality deliverables within deadlines. You are a high experienced GEDSI professional in the international development sector, with a strong track record leading high performing teams. You have a demonstrated aptitude for working effectively in a cross-cultural context.

  • Ability to travel across the Pacific region and Timor-Leste, as required.

Selection Criteria

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, with demonstrated experience in DFAT-funded programs.
  • Strong experience leading climate change programming and strategies in the international development context.
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships and partnerships in an international development context, with focus of supporting locally led programming.
  • Proven success in coordinating program activities in multiple country contexts.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets and resources to ensure timely implementation of deliverables.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to produce high-quality reports, briefs, workshops and other information exchanges with diverse audiences, including stakeholders at different levels.
  • Proven experience in partnership engagement, working effectively with (for example) government agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), donor organisations and other stakeholders to achieve shared development outcomes.
  • Strategic and independent work approach, with a proactive, adaptable, and innovative problem-solving mindset focused on continuous improvement and achieving development outcomes.
  • Experience working in the Pacific region, with an understanding of the local context, challenges, and opportunities to contribute to local development objectives.
