Program Background

Climate Resilient Communities (CRC) supports implementation of the Australian Government's climate change commitments under Australia's International Development Policy, in line with partner government priorities.

CRC supports the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) to increase climate investments, drive climate integration, and better address climate change and disaster risk across Australia’s development portfolio. 

The Role

The Gender Equality, Disability and Social inclusion (GEDSI) Specialist within the Resilience Advisory Team will support the delivery of services of the Support Unit for DFAT and respond to their requests for technical assistance to strengthen integration of inclusive climate and disaster resilience. The Specialist will be responsible for providing consistent and high-quality advice and support on gender responsive and inclusive climate and disaster resilience.

About You

Essential Experience and Knowledge 

  • Tertiary qualifications in gender equality, international development, social sciences, or another relevant field.
  • Extensive experience in GEDSI policy, technical advisory, or programming in international development programs in the context of climate and disaster resilience. 
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain GEDSI related networks or communities of practice, and provide coaching and mentoring among diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated understanding of DFAT priorities and development challenges related to gender equality and intersectionality, disability equity and rights, and how they apply to climate change and disaster resilience in the Indo-Pacific region. 
  • Understanding of DFAT Design and MEL Standards and ability to write to DFAT reporting requirements.
