The Role

The MEL Officer is responsible for supporting the design and implementation of Pacific Australia Skills quantitative data collection and analysis systems.

The role’s focus is on designing and implementing student and employer surveys, including course feedback surveys, graduate tracer surveys, employer engagement surveys, and longitudinal surveys. The MEL Survey Officer will ensure data collection, storage and analysis is high quality, ethical and secure.

The MEL Officer will also support other key MEL tasks, including coordinating reports and building MEL capacity of Pacific Australia Skills staff and skills and training partners.

About You

Essential Experience and Knowledge

  • Diploma or post-secondary qualification in MEL, statistics, economics, social sciences, data science, international relations or a related field.
  • Proficiency in data collection software and basic statistical software.
  • Demonstrated experience in survey methodology, data collection and management, and quality control processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with in-country teams and provide field-level support.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to train and mentor others.
  • Experience working in cross-cultural settings.
  • Experience with international development projects, NGOs, or donor-funded initiatives is an advantage.
  • Understanding of and commitment to Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), Child Protection, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH), prevention of human trafficking, environmental protection, anti-corruption and other DFAT safeguarding policies.
