What does the role involve?

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will be a member of the Leadership Team and responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Marketing, Fundraising, Community Engagement, Philanthropy and Communication strategy within Caritas Australia.

Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

• Strategic Leadership. Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to grow Caritas Australia’s brand, acquire new supporters, and engage key stakeholders.

• Fundraising and Development. Oversee the execution of fundraising campaigns and events, cultivating long-term relationships with high-value donors and corporate partners to achieve income targets and drive sustainable growth.

• Marketing and Communications. Lead the creation and execution of marketing strategies to enhance brand visibility, strengthen stakeholder connections, and drive fundraising revenue through cohesive campaigns.

• Team Leadership and Financial Management. Mentor the Advancement team, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation, while managing the budget and analysing fundraising metrics to align with strategic goals.

This role is based in our Mascot office and will work a hybrid model, including two days in the office per week.

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have a deep commitment to Caritas Australia’s mission to end poverty and injustice by promoting human dignity for all, as well as a dedication to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching that guide our global efforts. They will have a mix of the following qualifications, skills and experience:    

• Minimum of 12 years of experience in fundraising, development, or advancement roles within the nonprofit sector.

• Experience developing and implementing fundraising strategies that align with the organisation's mission and goals, ensuring sustainable growth and community engagement.

• Ability to inspire and mentor a high-performing department, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and aligns efforts towards shared objectives.

• Exhibit exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills to effectively engage diverse audiences and inspire confidence in the organisation’s mission.
