What does the role involve?

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will be a member of the Leadership Team and responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources management and strategy within Caritas Australia.

Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Strategic and Operational HR Leadership. Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organisational goals, considering regional cultural and legal nuances in Australia and International Offices.
  • Compliance and Risk Management. Ensure adherence to local employment laws and regulations, managing HR risks and fostering a compliant workplace environment.
  • Employee Engagement and Culture. Drive initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and organisational culture across diverse teams in the region.
  • Team Leadership and Development. Lead and mentor a team of HR professionals.

This role is based in our Mascot office and will work a hybrid model, including two days in the office per week.

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have a deep commitment to Caritas Australia’s mission to end poverty and injustice by promoting human dignity for all, as well as a dedication to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching that guide our global efforts. They will have a mix of the following qualifications, skills and experience:    

  • 12 years of experience leading People/ Human Resources functions including projects, programs and strategic planning withing the Development and Aid or Not for Profit sector.
  • Experience in domestic and international recruitment and HR operations with deep and broad understanding of employment law, employee relations compensations and benefits in Asia Pacific region.
  • Demonstrated change management experience in organisational strategy design, leading organisation-wide change processes, evaluation and influencing cultural shifts.
  • A compassionate leader with exceptional interpersonal skills, adept at fostering a collaborative work environment and effectively managing diverse teams through active listening and empathy.
