Celebrating its 13th anniversary, Vivid Sydney is an annual creative festival that showcases the soul of our city, in collaboration with the most brilliant and boundary-pushing artists, thinkers and musicians of our time. Vivid Sydney fuses mesmerising art displays and 3D light projections with exhilarating live music performances, thought-provoking debates and deep-dive discussions from some of the world’s brightest minds. This year, the festival boasts the longest continuous Light Walk in the history of the event, from the Sydney Opera House to Central Station.

As the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest festival of light, music, ideas and food, Vivid Sydney aims to lead the way for positive change in environmental responsibility. Championing creativity, innovation and cutting-edge applications of technology doesn’t end with our program but influences all elements of the festival from operations to marketing and everything in between.
With the festival engaging an entire ecosystem of local and international businesses, artists and visitors, we aim to work collaboratively to embed sustainable practices across all levels of Vivid Sydney – and encourage positive behaviours and practices that resonate long after ‘lights off'.

Casual Hands is looking for volunteers!
A number of volunteer positions are available. These positions include:
- Festival Information Ambassadors
- Wayfinding & Directional Volunteers
- Installation Activity Assistants
- Team Leaders
- Accessibility Information Ambassadors
As a Vivid Sydney volunteer, you will:
- be a part of creating unforgettable experiences for visitors from around the World
- gain valuable experience and make new friends
- give back to your community and make a difference
- get an exclusive behind-the-scenes peek into the inner workings of Australia’s largest event
You will be provided with:
- Vivid Sydney uniform
- A meal per shift
- Free public transport to and from shifts
- Training and induction
Please note that to be eligible, applicants must:
- be 18 years or older
- be available for a minimum of 6 shifts during the period of Vivid Sydney
- be able to complete an online orientation session and attend all required training sessions
- acquire National Police Check and WWCC (assistance available)
- be responsible and enthusiastic and committed to contributing to the organisation with pride and respect
Vivid's goals:
- Become climate positive and regenerate resources where possible, while growing Vivid Sydney
- Create a positive social impact for everyone across all levels of Vivid Sydney
- Continue collecting the data on Vivid Sydney’s environmental impact to move forward smarter and greener each year
