Established in 1994, Catalyst Foundation is a reputable not-for-profit charity organisation and a leading independent provider of community information in South Australia. The organisation provides information and helps connect vulnerable individuals across South Australia to a range of health, wellbeing services and community support groups across aged care, disability services, health, and welfare. Catalyst Foundation is committed to supporting people to make informed and independent decisions about the support they require so they can live healthy, active and engaged lives.

The Catalyst Foundation is implementing its 2024-27 Strategic Plan which was developed in conjunction with the establishment of a new organisation structure led by a talented and inclusive Board, Executive and team of employees.

Role overview

Working closely with the Chair, fellow Board Members and the Chief Executive Officer, you will play a pivotal role in leading and guiding our organisation towards achieving its strategic goals and objectives and to further our mission to support vulnerable individuals in South Australia.

This volunteer position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of ageing and vulnerable people and further advance South Australia’s social and economic prosperity.

The role provides an opportunity for the successful person to increase their professional profile and to be recognised by South Australia’s leading government, policy advisors, researchers, business community and other influential stakeholders

Responsibilities

The Board Member is responsible for participating in productive Board meetings, cultivating diverse and engaged Board conversations and fostering strong relationships with Member colleagues and external stakeholders. You will play a crucial role to ensure and support the Catalyst Foundation operates in alignment with its missions and values by fostering a culture of integrity and accountability. As an ambassador and advocate, you will represent the organisation; build partnerships by leveraging your own networks and raise awareness of the work of the Catalyst Foundation.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catalyst Foundation.
  • High regard to public health at a state and federal level within aged care, health and disability.
  • Lived experience either as a current recipient of services, having family members or a close person access services who are ageing, live with disability, chronic disease or co-morbidities.
  • Proven experience in a leadership or board-level role, ideally within the not for profit, charity, social services or community development sector.
  • Qualifications or leading to qualifications such as Australian Institute of Company Directors.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning capabilities, with the ability to drive organisational growth and impact.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
  • Passion for community development and a commitment to serving vulnerable individuals.
  • Availability and preparedness to attend regular board meetings, some out of session work and meetings, and represent the organisation at relevant public events.
