About the role:

We are currently looking for an experienced Caseworker to join our Intensive Family Preservation (IFP) team in Waitara on a parental leave contract until 21st July, 2025.

The aim of IFP services is to provide intensive and extended, but time limited, support to improve family functioning and safety for children by building the skills and capacity of parents/caregivers to a level that can be sustained so they can thrive! This is a fantastic role for someone who is experienced in the field and has real passion in working with all members of the family.

In this role you will provide intensive case management to families for 6-9 months in the Northern Sydney area, including Northern Beaches. This will include addressing child protection concerns through building client capabilities, increasing safety and promoting change through an empowerment client centred model. We provide trauma informed, strength-based casework interventions to families with children and young people aged 0-18 years.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing effective, caring, flexible, high quality IFP support casework.
  • Address child protection worries identified by Department of Communities & Justice (DCJ) in referrals to IFP.
  • Drafting case plans that address DCJ worries that ensures the safety and wellbeing for all members of the household.
  • Writing accurate and timely case notes and record keeping.
  • Provide interventions that are trauma informed and evidence-based.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences or equivalent qualifications.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in case management working with children and families.
  • Understanding of the NSW Human Services Outcomes Framework.
  • Knowledge of evidenced based parenting programs.
  • Strong networking and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage a crisis or safety situations and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • A NSW driver's licence and comprehensively insured vehicle.
