About the role:

Local Support Services (LSS), as part of the Safer Pathway (SP) Program aims to provide support to male victim-survivors of domestic and family violence (DFV). The Safer Pathways program will work with relevant government and non-government agencies to identify men experiencing DFV and offer them support to increase their safety.

The program works to offer victim-survivors tailored, coordinated services based on their needs and the level of threat to their safety. SP responds to all referrals, utilising a person centred, trauma informed and culturally appropriate approach to build trust and engagement in the program to ensure increased safety and client goals are met.

The position of Safer Pathways Specialist Worker - Men Focused sits within a consortium team with CatholicCare Hunter Manning (CCHM). We utilise a best practice model to deliver therapeutic outcomes, maximise safety, build client capabilities, drive and promote change.

This role is a fixed-term contract (until June 2026), working 5 days per week and we offer a flexible working arrangement. The position is based in Tuggerah and will require you to travel across the Central Coast and sit of Safety Action Meetings.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responding to referrals, utilising a person-centred approach to build trust and engagement in the program.
  • Triage using information gathered at referral and during initial contact to assess needs and provide case coordination and/or case management.
  • Deliver high quality case coordination and case management and work with participants in a capacity building approach.
  • Provide holistic assessment, purposeful case planning and trauma- informed casework in partnership with the participant, and significant people, to develop strengths-based, person-centred safety plans.
  • Effectively establish and maintain collaborative partnerships and networks with key stakeholders to ensure effective service referral pathways.
  • Development of Policies, Procedures, practice guides, data management and reports where required.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, or Diploma with 2+ years demonstrated experience in relevant field.
  • Demonstrated experience working with and engaging with men.
  • Knowledge of current Child Protection, Crimes (Domestic and Personal Violence) Act 2007; Plain English ADVO and other relevant legislation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice response to domestic violence.
  • Knowledge of and an ability to work effectively with Police, Courts, SAMS meetings, DCJ, Justice, Women’s Domestic Violence Court Assistant Scheme, and interpreter services.
  • High level of understanding around primary aggressor and coercive control.
  • Strong networking and advocacy skills, case planning and note taking.
