What you’ll be doing… 

The overarching purpose of the Carer Gateway is to support carers   to build their capacity to sustain their caring role. The Carer Gateway National Counselling Service provides a crucial platform for carers across Australia to engage with credentialled, experienced & compassionate counsellors to reduce stress and isolation and improve wellbeing. The multifactorial impact of caring experiences on both mental and physical health are often very complex and unique to each caring situation. Our purpose is to support carers earlier in a proactive way by fostering wellbeing and sustainability in their caring role. 

The Carer Gateway National Counselling Service is a national program operating Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm (outside of daylight savings) and 8:00 am to 9:00 pm during daylight savings. The Counselling Lead will report to the counselling Practice Manager and will be responsible for offering day-to-day operational and clinical leadership, providing expertise, guidance, and supervision to our Counsellors in the delivery of client services.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing direction, support, feedback and/or clinical supervision to a team of practitioners to facilitate the delivery of efficient and effective client focused services 
  • Monitoring service delivery against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) 
  • Supporting the Practice Manager to facilitate team meetings that foster a high performing service culture
  • Providing/facilitating supervision and informing professional development initiatives 
  • Providing timely, high level and specialist advice to Practice Manager on service delivery issues, individual and team performance, service quality, and related matters
  • Serving as the first point of contact regarding workplace issues and escalating them to the Practice Manager as required
  • Carrying a small client caseload

What you will need…

  • Minimum three years counselling experience and professional membership with AASW, ACA or PACFA  at Level 2 or higher
  • Experience in digital service delivery 
  • Industry relevant experience coordinating and implementing services, and supporting individuals and teams to deliver client outcomes
  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant legislation as required by the service
  • Demonstrated ability to build and leverage relationships to achieve agreed objectives
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi task and prioritise
  • Demonstrated ability to build and leverage relationships to achieve agreed objectives
  • High level written communication skills
