About the Role

We are seeking experienced Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners (FDRPs) to join our skilled multidisciplinary team and assist separating families to make parenting arrangements in the best interests of their children. The role is available at Bankstown Family Relationship Centre.

Our family law services support families from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds through innovative programs including therapeutic Post Separation Case Management and group workshops for children impacted by family separation. Our range of programs and partnerships provide opportunities for FDRPs to assist families through collaborative cross-practice models.

About You

To be a suitable candidate for this role, you will have:

  • The ability to undertake the duties of the role in accordance with CatholicCare’s Mission, Vision and Values.
  • Tertiary qualification in counselling, social sciences or psychotherapy, and demonstrated experience and capacity in working therapeutically with children and families.
  • Registration as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner in accordance with Attorney Generals Department (AGD) requirements. (refer to: Family Dispute Resolution | Attorney-General's Department)
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in post-separation family dispute resolution, including clinical assessments and working with clients with difficult or complex presenting issues including family violence, conflict and loss and grief.
  • Experience and skills in delivering child inclusive practise, with an understanding of issues impacting children and families during and following separation, including child development and child protection issues.
  • Experience in the use of alternative models of mediation including trauma informed mediation, legally assisted mediation, property and financial mediation, child informed and child inclusive practice.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team as well as independently.
  • Demonstrated excellent ability to actively collaborate, communicate clearly and respond with respect towards colleagues, clients, community partners and other professionals.
  • Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills, and competence in using client management systems and phone/online modes of service delivery.
  • Capacity to be flexible and adaptable in response to evolving organisational, legislative and sector priorities and requirements.
  • Experience in delivery of parent education and group workshops.
  • Demonstrated ability to appraise and critically reflect on clinical work and to participate in clinical supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in working with Cultural and Linguistically Diverse Communities (CALD) and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities.
