What you’ll be doing…

The overarching purpose of the Carer Gateway is to support carers to build their capacity to sustain their caring role. The Carer Gateway National Counselling Service provides a crucial platform for carers across Australia to engage with credentialed, experienced & compassionate counsellors to reduce stress and isolation and improve wellbeing. The multifactorial impact of caring experiences on both mental and physical health are often very complex and unique to each caring situation. Our purpose is to support carers earlier in a proactive way by fostering wellbeing and sustainability in their caring role.

The Intake Lead will report to the Practice Manager and will be responsible for providing strong leadership, expertise, guidance and supervision to one of the Intake practitioners teams within the Carer Gateway Program.

Some of your responsibilities include:

  • Providing direction, support, feedback and / or supervision to a team to facilitate the delivery of efficient and effective client focused services consistent with best practice standards and relevant statutory requirements
  • Facilitating the implementation of strategic and operational objectives, policies, and directives
  • Ensuring that high quality data is captured in meeting external reporting requirements and operational needs among other
  • Monitoring the daily operations of the Carer Gateway Intake team and managing workload allocation across the team
  • Assisting in the coordination and development of an annual information/training session plan
  • Assisting with the management of rosters and processing timesheets

What you will need…

  • To be a suitable candidate for this role, you will require:
  • Completion of relevant tertiary qualifications in counselling, community services, mental health or social work is essential
  • Experience in leading and supervising small teams to support client service delivery outcomes
  • Demonstrated capacity to implement a person-centred approach to service delivery
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High proficiency in using computer applications, including Microsoft Office, as well as a willingness to learn new programs
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection, domestic and family violence as well as other relevant legislation
