As part of The George Institute’s ambitious plan to achieve global equity, they are expanding their Philanthropy team to scale their efforts and tackle some of the most pressing health challenges of our time.

ROLE

Newly created Philanthropy Manager – Trusts and Foundations responsible for securing and managing relationships with trusts and foundations with the capacity to give over $1million.

Reporting to a highly experienced Head of Fundraising, you will identify funding opportunities, craft compelling grant proposals, ensuring reporting requirements are met. You also will be cultivating and stewarding donor relationships to build long term partnerships.

The role will suit someone who has a strong understanding of philanthropy, looking to build their expert relationship development experience. This role requires a long-term approach to donor relationships, discipline and motivation to executive short-term plans contributing to broader goals. Adaptability to the changing philanthropic landscape will be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement strategic approach to securing funding from trusts and foundations
  • Identify and conduct in depth research into mission aligned funders to build pipeline of opportunities
  • Personally manage and grow portfolio of trusts and foundations, guiding through the donor journey
  • Research, craft and submit compelling grant proposals tailored to funders priorities
  • Ensure timely submission of applications, reports meeting contractual requirements as well as inspiring a deeper donor engagement
  • Support the institute’s researchers to build capacity to secure funding
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key trusts and foundation decision makers
  • Develop tailored engagement and stewardship plans to deepen donor relationships and demonstrate the impact of their contributions
  • Facilitate donor engagement activities in collaboration with team, including reports and tailored communications
  • Ensure compliance with grant deliverables, providing accurate date and reporting

YOUR SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Demonstrated experience in trusts and foundations fundraising and relationship management in the not-for-profit sector or related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and EQ skills for building and maintaining donor relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with skill for crafting persuasive pitches and proposals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve goals.
  • Understanding of philanthropic trends, donor motivations and stewardship strategies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with CRM systems like Salesforce or Raiser’s Edge.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and best practices
  • Experience of working in the global health sector
