ABOUT CULTIVATING COMMUNITY
The Cultivating Community (CC) Public Housing Community Gardens Team supports 750+ gardeners within 21 public housing community gardens, social housing communal gardens and housing precinct kitchen gardens in inner Melbourne.
The Garden Labourer works as part of the Community Gardens Team along with other team members involved in maintenance, improvement work, and bespoke projects. They also support Hortus our Garden design, build and maintenance service often working alongside CALD communities including participants of our Deaf and Hard of Hearing work pathway.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operation of weeding and grass cutting equipment
- Maintain pathways, grass, and communal areas in all sites, working to a schedule within regions
- Removal of hard and green waste working to a schedule within regions
- Identifying and planning horticultural maintenance requirements in gardens
- Assist with build and landscape design and upgrades
- Support with tree pruning, compost management and soil deliveries
- Preparing ground works, landscaping sites and general building works
- Contribution to the ongoing improvement of the program's delivery
- Support relevant reporting, evaluation and monitoring as required
- Maintain effective relationships internally and externally
- Work within a budget
- Maintain safe environments to protect customers, team members and yourself in line with occupational health and safety legislation and Cultivating Community policy requirements
- Operate within the guidelines provided by Homes Victoria and organisation
- Carry out other tasks as required.
