Job Description

Central Coast Community Women’s Health Centre (CCCWHC) is seeking a woman to fill the position of Assessment, Referral and Crisis Counsellor (ARCC). This is a fixed-term part-time role (26 hours per week, Monday–Thursday), primarily based at our Wyoming Centre, with some work at Wyong and Woy Woy Centres as required.

Are you passionate about supporting and empowering women on the Central Coast? Do you have experience in intake assessment, referral, and crisis/short-term counselling for women experiencing domestic, family, and sexual violence (DFSV), mental health challenges, grief/loss, and other issues impacting well-being?

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Head of Client Services, this role is central to ensuring consistent intake, assessment, and referral processes across all three CCCWHC Centres. The position involves:

  • Providing trauma-informed intake assessment and referral services for women accessing CCCWHC.
  • Delivering crisis counselling and short-term support.
  • Managing the counselling and case management waiting lists, ensuring that women in crisis receive appropriate support and referrals.
  • Developing and maintaining referral pathways, internal resources, and external partnerships.
  • Providing pregnancy counselling and administering CCCWHC’s financial support service for terminations.
  • Engaging in advocacy, networking, community education, and social action to enhance service provision.

This position operates within a feminist framework, acknowledging the diverse social, cultural, economic, and biological factors that influence women’s well-being.

ABOUT YOU

  • You are an experienced crisis or short-term counsellor with at least two years experience supporting women affected by DFSV, mental health challenges, grief/loss, and related issues.
  • You have qualifications in counselling, social work, or a related community service field.
  • You are skilled in assessment, referral, and crisis counselling and have experience working within a trauma-informed framework.
  • You have a strong understanding of the social model of health and the Domestic Violence Framework.
  • You are confident in maintaining client records and case notes in line with legal and organisational requirements.
  • You have excellent interpersonal, communication, and networking skills, with experience advocating for women’s rights and building community partnerships.
  • You are highly organised, capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • You demonstrate cultural awareness and experience working with diverse communities.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Central Coast networks and services.
  • Experience using client booking and management systems.
