About the team

The Performance and Evaluation Team provides rigorous evaluation expertise to guide the planning and conduct of evaluation activities across all cancer control activities undertaken by CCNSW. Cancer control activities include prevention, screening, advocacy, supportive care, and information and practical support for people impacted by cancer.

The Performance and Evaluation Team is a small, dynamic, productive, virtual team with expertise spanning public health, epidemiology, statistics, and quantitative and qualitative evaluative methods. We are seeking a team member with a 'can-do' attitude, who can juggle multiple projects, who is comfortable working both collaboratively and independently.

About the role:

Reporting to the Performance and Evaluation Lead, and working alongside the Senior Evaluation Specialist, the primary purpose of the Evaluation Research Assistant is to contribute to the development and implementation of evaluation plans for cancer control activities. Tasks will include conducting literature reviews, drafting evaluation plans and reports, coordinating meetings, and collecting, analysing and reporting qualitative and quantitative data.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Provide administrative, operational, and evaluation support to members of the Performance and Evaluation Team to support the delivery of team, divisional and organisational objectives.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of cancer control programs including process, outcome and impact evaluation measures. Tasks may include coordinating focus groups, developing and monitoring of online surveys, collating and analysing quantitative and qualitative data, conducting literature reviews, and interpretation and reporting of results.
  • Work effectively with software applications, word-processing, spreadsheet, database, statistical, citation management and communication tools.
  • Draft reports, publications, presentations, briefs and communication on study progress and group outputs for senior team member review.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Performance and Evaluation Team, and across other CCNSW divisions and with key external stakeholders as required.

About you

Essential:

  • A tertiary qualification in public health, social science or psychology and a strong interest in developing a career in evaluation.
  • Knowledge and experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
  • Demonstrated organisational and communication skills (both written and oral); including well developed time management abilities.
  • High level of competence in MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and intermediate Excel and Sharepoint.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of the need to adhere to information privacy and confidentiality guidelines.

Desirable:

  • Experience in evaluation of health promotion, public health or health services.
  • Prior experience cleaning quantitative data, undertaking quantitative or qualitative analysis.
  • An ability to perform basic statistics.
  • Familiarity with data analysis programs (e.g., R, NVivo) and literature databases.
  • Experience conducting literature reviews and utilizing bibliographic management software (e.g., Endnore, Zotero)
  • A post-graduate or honours qualification in public health, social science, psychology or similar discipline.
  • Experience with recruitment and management of participants of online surveys.
