About the team

The Strategy & Operational Performance team is responsible for providing the insights, frameworks, and transformation expertise in order to support CCNSW leadership in the development, execution, and ongoing evaluation of the new CCNSW five-year strategy so as to maximise organisational impact.

The four key focus areas for the team are:

  • Strategy and planning: to support the development of the CCNSW strategy and to support long term and annual planning.
  • Business improvement and transformation: to provide business improvement advice and to lead transformative business projects.
  • Performance, evaluation, and insights: to support cancer control teams in measuring the impact of our work and to provide CCNSW leadership with the information they need to make strategic decisions and to report on our impact.
  • Project portfolio management: to support project managers in planning, delivery, and evaluation of projects, and to provide leadership with the information they need to make decisions about projects that will transform the organisation.

About the role

This role will work closely with the Manager, Strategy & Operational Performance and Executive Leadership Team to lead on the successful delivery of key strategic projects that will enhance organisational performance and maximise impact – to reduce the impact of cancer faster!

Key responsibilities of the role

  • Lead strategic projects to improve organisational performance in consultation with the Manager, Strategy & Operational Performance and Executive Leadership Team, including the initiation, management and delivery of projects through the full project lifecycle using best practice project management methodologies and delivering projects within time and budget. Some examples of projects include setting up an outcomes management practice, developing a strategic decision-making framework, and defining a community engagement strategy.
  • Provide business improvement advice to CCNSW leadership and build the business improvement and process improvement capability of staff, setting up the necessary frameworks, processes and tools required to build a future ready sustainable organisation.
  • Support the effective implementation of the organisation’s strategy, including leading reviews and projects that provide evidence for executive strategic decision making.
  • Manage and liaise with internal and external stakeholders, business managers, leaders and senior management on business improvement opportunities and strategic projects including risks, issues, mitigation strategies and priorities.
  • Lead, inspire and influence cross divisional working groups and manage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver effective outcomes to enhance business improvement and innovation.
  • Prepare presentations and present insights to internal and external stakeholders including the Executive and Board.
  • Undertake post project implementation reviews and ensure evaluation of key strategic and business improvement projects.

About you

Essential:

  • Strong strategic thinking expertise experience
  • Extensive project management experience managing projects throughout the full project lifecycle within a complex environment and to tight deadlines
  • Experience identifying opportunities to enhance business performance
  • Change management experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desirable:

  • Health sector or research experience and/or qualification
  • Not for profit sector experience
  • Public health and/or cancer control expertise
  • Process improvement, operating model, and workforce design expertise
  • Business transformation experience
  • Experience with developing strategic decision-making frameworks and community engagement strategies.
