Part time, 20 hours per week (Tues- Thurs) - 12 month maternity cover
The sustainability workshops program aims to foster community resilience through sharing knowledge and growing connections. The Project Officer will facilitate community learning and connection by increasing the use and accessibility of the Gungaderra Homestead Community Garden.
Coordinating regular teaching and learning sessions at the community garden will be a central component to the role. They will assist with hosting sustainability workshops, answering centre queries and providing volunteer support.
The Canberra Environment Centre aims to provide high-quality workshops on all aspects of sustainable living. We schedule workshops each month, delivering to the public both online and in person. We also provide workshops directly to community groups and schools.
Knowledge or interest in topics related to practical sustainability is a strong advantage. We draw upon knowledgeable and skilled members of our community to present our workshops; the Project Officer must be familiar with the topics to successfully curate the sustainability workshops program.
Ensuring appropriate systems are adhered to, the Project Officer will welcome first-time visitors to the centre while maintaining relationships with repeat visitors. In collaboration with the Executive Director, the project officer will promote the CEC and grow the number and impact of interactions with the community.
The community garden is a new venture for Canberra Environment Centre, and there is plenty of opportunity to lead the project according to your creative vision!

Producing the Canberra Environment Centre’s Community Garden program will require a high level of creativity and innovative thinking as you build and evolve the workshops on offer to meet the varied needs of the community. This role requires you to be organised and plan ahead, as well as maintain energy and enthusiasm for event management.
