About the Canberra Environment Centre

We are a community-based environmental education centre that empowers people to create a sustainable future for the Canberra Community. We are located at Gungaderra Homestead, in Harrison, Gungahlin.

About the Recyclery

We are a community led second-hand bike shop that offers a space for the Canberra community to repair their bikes, as well as find affordable components, accessories and newly-serviced second-hand bikes for purchase. We are a social enterprise project of the Canberra Environment Centre (CEC).

The Recyclery aims to provide an affordable and sustainable alternative to buying a new bike, as well as to keep as many bikes as possible from landfill. We also provide a space for the Canberra community to learn to confidently maintain and service their bike, to become independent of fossil fuel-based transport and to help others to do the same.

The Recyclery is recruiting for one paid mechanic/manager who will have the support of the CEC team and has around 12+ volunteers.

We have a workshop, with most tools required for bike repair. The workshop is a social place, where we share knowledge and skills. This means we try to make everyone welcome to use the space and the resources. When we can, we are here to provide advice and help with repairs.

As a bike shop, we offer bikes usually priced between $100 and $500. These are second-hand bikes donated to us by the Canberra community and businesses. These bikes come to us in various states of disrepair, and we do the necessary repairs before sale.

We also take donations of parts, and so have a large stock of second-hand components and accessories. We also have a few wholesale accounts and offer some new parts and accessories.
