Central Coast Local Health District is committed to strengthening and continuously improving access to culturally sensitive and safe violence abuse and neglect (VAN) services on Darkinjung country.
This role will be provided with both clinical and cultural support and will work in a culturally centred trauma informed approach across the program areas.
This role will hold small clinical load to ensure time is invested in strong community connections and providing genuine cultural consultation to ensure the cultural integrity of the care we provide for Aboriginal clients is strong.
You will bring your experience and education, and be supported to grow and build your career through training, development and networks within supportive and high functioning teams. You will be committed to delivering exceptional health care and be skilled at building positive relationships and collaboration within the health system and the broader community.
This is an Aboriginal Identified position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community
You will have completed a Bachelor Degree in a health related field or completed ECAV qualification pathway – Graduate Certificate in Human and Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma).
The New Street Counsellor – Aboriginal is a role in which you will work in partnership with the Aboriginal Community in responding to young people who have sexual behaviour. This includes working with young people and their families to provide culturally safe therapy and access to supports. New Street is part of our integrated Violence, Abuse and Neglect (VAN) Service.
With support of the state-wide network of other Aboriginal New Street Clinicians you will provide cultural consultation to support you non Aboriginal colleagues working with Aboriginal young people and families.
