The Organisation

The Central Land Council (CLC) is a representative body promoting Aboriginal rights and provides a number of services for the benefit of traditional owners and other Aboriginal residents of the CLC region.

It carries out its statutory functions across the southern half of the NT. Its members belong to more than 15 language groups. Located in the amazing landscapes of Central Australia, CLC's main office is located in Alice Springs plus several regional CLC offices.

CLC employs more than 260 people with 51% being Indigenous, including local Aboriginal people with expert traditional knowledge to lawyers, anthropologists, geologists, accountants, technology and information professionals, and a vast range of trades.

The role

As a Commonwealth Government corporate entity, equipped with modern technology and facilities, the Legal team is recruiting now for an:

LE003 - Regional Lawyer - Alice Springs

CL 6 - SOB (Commencing $80,663 progressing to $135,217)

Salary commensurate with experience

Based in Alice Springs, this position is part of a team of lawyers forming the CLC Legal Section; including six dedicated regional lawyers together with other specialist legal positions. The legal section provides representation and advice on a wide range of commercial and property matters to traditional owners and to the Council on issues arising under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976) and the Native Title Act 1993. The successful candidate must be eligible to be admitted to act as a legal practitioner in the NT.
