ABOUT THE ROLE

The Communications Officer is a new role that reports directly to the Director, Advocacy & Engagement. In this truly generalist role, you will obtain broad experience across all channels and activities to help develop your career. You will also be creating content and providing support for all communication, media and campaign activities.

This is a position for someone who is self-driven and responsible, with the ability to work collaboratively on multiple tasks with tight deadlines.

Our team is growing, and we will support further training and development for the right person.

The key responsibilities are:

  • Produce engaging written and visual content across print, digital and social media channels
  • Provide support for all communication, media and campaign activities
  • Tracking and reporting of our social media and media activity
  • Maintaining digital assets
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of all CHF Advocacy and Engagement activities
  • Work independently and collaboratively across CHF to meet deadlines

ABOUT YOU

You should have:

  1. At least two years’ experience in a similar role and/or a portfolio of work to demonstrate your communication skills
  2. Strong writing and proofreading skills with close attention to detail
  3. Proficiency in social media platforms and management tools
  4. Basic photography, design and video production skills, using tools like Canva and Adobe Creative Suite, will be highly regarded
  5. Ability to contribute positively to team operations, culture and working relationships
  6. Ability to respond flexibly and work in a busy and complex environment where there are competing demands and tight deadlines
  7. Commitment to achieving and upholding the CHF vision, mission and values
  8. Tertiary qualifications in Communications/Marketing/Creative Arts highly regarded

Note: You must have the right to work in Australia. Occasional interstate travel is required. You must demonstrate the absence of a relevant criminal history to be appointed to the role. A current Working with Children’s check is also required. This role is full-time, two-year term.
