About the role
This role sits in the Connected Communities team as part of the Community Life division which strives to develop healthy, active, connected and safe communities through the delivery of community facilities, events, experiences and life cycle services from birth to older age.
The Head of Ageing and Sector Support will provide leadership and direction to the Ageing and Sector Support Unit to deliver strategic initiatives and services that will continue to enhance the City of Casey as an age-friendly community where people of all ages can actively live and participate in community life.
In this role through strong communication and partnerships, you will build capacity internally and externally with relevant stakeholders to ensure services and programs are responsive to changing community needs and are inclusive and equitable.
In this role you will:
- Foster a strong innovative culture ensuring that older people and people with a disability have access to quality services, information and support networks to live and age well in Casey.
- Provide strategic direction and oversight of the Ageing and Sector Support Unit to ensure that it is meeting the Casey community and Council needs, in a sustainable way.
- Provide leadership and ongoing development to the Ageing & Sector Support Unit to thrive during change with a service improvement mindset.
- Provide direction, role clarity and coaching, ensuring team members have clear work objectives, and are positively engaged in the performance and development processes.
- Provide strategic and timely advice to Manager Connected Communities, Executive Leadership Team, CEO and Council, that responds to the current State and Federal policy environment, demonstrates contemporary service planning, and supports ‘best practice’ and leadership in aged and disability policy and practice.
- Build collaborative and outcome focused relationships at all levels of the Council.
- Forge strong connections and relationships with internal and external stakeholders including, other teams across the organisation, service providers, community groups and sector partners.
- Actively seek and strengthen partnerships with external stakeholders, including the State and federal Governments, to facilitate market strengthening of aged and disability services.
- Contribute to building capacity of the sector by leading and facilitating relevant networks, including establishing external working groups to impact sector change.
About you
- A relevant degree or diploma in Allied Health, Social Sciences as well as substantial experience in related field.
- Advanced project management skills with demonstrated success leading teams to successfully implement alternative service models that focus on improving community outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage strategic partnerships with key stakeholders on a range of policy, program and community issues to achieve positive outcomes.
- Established leader with demonstrated experience and robust understanding of the broader aged care, health and disability systems and sectors.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Commonwealth and State Government policy, frameworks, funding agreements and service standards as they pertain to aged and disability sectors.
- Demonstrated understanding of the economic, political, and social issues relating to the Local Government environment.
- Established leader with extensive experience in leading, developing, and motivating staff with an emphasis on performance, continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within a changing environment.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including: National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, and Eligibility to Work check.

Salary: starts at $116,802.40 (Band 8) per annum plus superannuation
