Are you passionate about community development and urban revitalisation? Join our dynamic team at Yarra as the Manager for the Victoria Street Revitalisation Project. Reporting to the General Manager Community Strengthening, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team to drive the development and delivery of this transformative project.

About the role:

In this role, you will leverage Council's resources to assess feasibility, impact, and resource needs for proposed interventions, ensuring activities are pursued in an integrated and coordinated way. You will work closely with residents, businesses, and private sector stakeholders, with a special focus on highlighting the Vietnamese community's cultural and economic contributions to Victoria Street.

As part of the Community Strengthening Leadership Team, you will drive positive organisational change and provide strategic advice on key issues facing the precinct and the broader Yarra community. Your leadership will be crucial in promoting a productive culture that values diversity, trust, and respect.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic multi-disciplinary, multi-year project management, monitoring, and evaluation of the Victoria Street Revitalisation Project.
  • Oversee strategic land use planning reforms, economic development, place activation, art and culture, regulatory compliance, public amenity, and safety.
  • Engage deeply with local traders, residents, community groups, and the State Government to ensure collaborative development and implementation of the plan.
  • Provide strategic and innovative leadership, ensuring effective engagement across diverse stakeholders.
  • Promote a sustainable city by embedding climate considerations into all Council activities.

What We're Looking For:

We are seeking a highly committed individual with a deep understanding of local government and the statutory and legislative requirements of Council roles. The ideal candidate will have significant leadership experience and a proven track record in leading, developing, and implementing strategic, complex projects and service improvements in a dynamic environment.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in social policy, economic and community development, and project planning and delivery.
  • Strong understanding of contemporary social and economic development issues, with a focus on precinct activation, social inclusion, diversity, social justice, and community health and wellbeing.
  • Exceptional communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to effectively position the organisation's role and objectives to diverse audiences.
